There’s an unexpected amount of traffic to the posting on “Mache dich, mein Herze, Rein.” Apparently you guys are as obsessed as I am about this piece! I’m so pleased! I started writing something to go with the music, but just couldn’t.
Here is another golden nugget from St. Matthew Passion. You walk into a room, a walk-up to a bare room somewhere in an old city, with a town center that contains a famous statue, and a man-made lake. The flooring is old. There is only one chair in the room with another piece of furniture. The room is dark until you open the blinds. The afternoon sun filters in. You take a nap. It’s around 6PM. The door opens, and someone visits you in this room.
